Estonia built one of the world’s most digitised governments, running almost every public service online. India built the world’s largest set of digital public goods, from Aadhaar to UPI. In 2026, the two countries spent the year finding out how much they actually have in common.

- Foreign Office Consultations between the two countries are a regular, ongoing mechanism. The 13th round was held in Tallinn on 3 February 2026.
- India’s main exports to Estonia include machines, vehicles, and chemicals. Its main imports from Estonia include electrical equipment and optical instruments.
Current Affairs
- 3 February 2026: India and Estonia held their 13th round of Foreign Office Consultations in Tallinn. Both sides described the relationship as “warm and cordial,” with regular exchanges at political and official levels.
- 19 February 2026: Estonian President Alar Karis visited India and met President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi. Their discussion covered artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and combining Estonia’s tech expertise with India’s startup ecosystem.
- President Murmu specifically welcomed Estonia’s support for the India-EU Free Trade Agreement during that meeting.
- 18 July 2026: Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal addressed the India-Estonia Business Forum in Tallinn, during an official visit. He called for deeper collaboration in trade, investment, innovation, and technology, and highlighted India’s economic growth story to Estonian investors.
