A Trade Relationship Doubling Down
Bilateral trade hit roughly $3.70 billion in 2025-26 — up 25% on the year. Both countries now aim to double that figure by 2030.

- India and the Nordic countries, including Finland, hold their own periodic summit. The third India-Nordic Summit was held in Oslo, on 19 May 2026.
- India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Finland’s then-Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen jointly unveiled a commemorative logo, on 21-22 February 2024. It marked 75 years of diplomatic ties.
- Around 33,445 people of Indian origin live in Finland today. This includes both Non-Resident Indians and Overseas Citizens of India, mostly settled around Helsinki.
- Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo visited India from 17 to 20 February 2026, to attend the AI Impact Summit.

- In 2019, to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, India gifted Finland a life-size statue of Gandhi. It was unveiled by then-Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto.
