What Smart India Hackathon Actually Is
  • A Problem-Solving Initiative Smart India Hackathon identifies new digital technology innovations. It looks for solutions to real problems the country faces.
  • Not a Smart Cities Scheme It is not a centrally sponsored scheme to develop every city into a Smart City. That is a separate, unrelated mission.
  • Not a Cashless-Economy Programme It also has nothing to do with making all financial transactions in the country digital. That confuses it with a different push toward digital payments.
