In 2008, a male and a tigress were moved to Sariska Tiger Reserve to rebuild its tiger population. Which reserve supplied them?

Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. Sariska's first founders came from Ranthambore in Rajasthan in June and July 2008. The first tiger was airlifted by an IAF helicopter. Kanha and Bandhavgarh were source reserves for Panna, not Sariska. Corbett supplied tigers to Rajaji, not Sariska.

Consider the following statements about the Panna Tiger Reserve reintroduction. 1. Panna lost its whole tiger population to poaching by about 2008-2009. 2. Its founding tigers came from different source populations, including Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench. 3. All three founding tigers were released together in March 2009. Which of the statements given above is/are correct?

1 and 2 only. Statements 1 and 2 are correct. Females T1 (Bandhavgarh) and T2 (Kanha) came in March 2009. The male T3 (Pench) came later, in November 2009. So statement 3 is wrong.

Assertion (A): The NTCA protocol prefers moving tigresses aged 2-3 years for reintroduction. Reason (R): Such sub-adults are independent of the mother but hold no territory, and removing them does not cause male turnover or infanticide in the donor area. Which one of the following is correct?

Both A and R are true, and R is the correct explanation of A.. Both A and R are true, and R explains A. The NTCA protocol prefers tigresses aged 2-3 years. These are sub-adults. They are independent of the mother but hold no territory. Removing them from the donor population causes no male turnover or infanticide there. That is why they are the preferred group. Established breeding tigers should not be moved at all.

The tigress T138, translocated to Buxa Tiger Reserve in West Bengal in 2026, came from which reserve?

Valmiki Tiger Reserve, Bihar. T138 was tranquilised in Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Bihar. She was flown to Hasimara on 30 September 2026 and then taken by road to Buxa. Manas is a distractor, since a tiger photographed at Buxa in 2023 matched one from Manas.

Arrange these tiger translocation events in correct chronological order, earliest first. A. NTCA suspends the Satkosia inter-state translocation project. B. Tiger RT-91 is placed in a soft enclosure in Mukundara Hills. C. A male and a tigress are moved from Ranthambore to Sariska. D. Tigresses from Bandhavgarh and Kanha are released in Panna.
