It is the worlds largest neutrino detector, encompassing a cubic kilometre of ice. 2. It is a powerful telescope to search for dark matter. 3. It is buried deep in the ice. Which are correct?

Accepted Answer

1, 2 and 3. The official UPSC key is (d), 1, 2 and 3. Statement 3 fits: the sensors sit between 1,450 m and 2,450 m deep. Statement 1 fits the cubic kilometre of ice, though IceCube's own pages say "first" and "only" rather than "largest". For statement 2, IceCube searches indirectly for dark matter and has found none.
