  • Adopted The European Parliament and Council adopted the GDPR on 14 April 2016.
  • In force Enforcement began 25 May 2018, giving organisations two years to prepare.
What It Replaced
  • Predecessor GDPR replaced the EU’s 1995 Data Protection Directive, significantly expanding personal-privacy rights.
