- The Adriatic Sea genuinely borders Albania, along the Balkan coast.
- The Caspian Sea genuinely borders Kazakhstan, which has an extensive northeastern coastline on it.
- The Mediterranean Sea genuinely borders Morocco, on its Strait of Gibraltar coast.
- The Black Sea does not border Croatia. Its real neighbours are Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, and Ukraine.
- The Red Sea does not border Syria. Its real neighbours include Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia.
